Oh boy -- is it a busy month or what! But if that's true . . . then WHY AM I SO FUCKING BORED AT WORK? HUH? HUH? HUH?
ANSWER ME. ANSWER ME!
That said, there's a lot going on in the BFN camp. Psycho Dave got Passed Over before mashing a huge batch of BFN Season XI episodes from earlier this year; Chad did the Funky Chicken at his brother's wedding in Deutschland and still got laid; and I wrapped up one helluva Knuckle Sammich! We also have brand new band interviews ready for streaming, too! Davey had the good fortune to rock out with Myllhouse (www.myllhouse.net); I witnessed the most outstanding live performance I've ever seen thanks to The Navigators (www.navigatorsmusic.com).
The time for great music is upon us, folks! 2005 has been unbelievable for new tuneage! Don't believe me? Look at what we got going just for this month alone:
May 5-6 - NIN Bares Its Fangs
Promoting his latest ball-buster With Teeth, Trent Reznor stops in town to howl about his fucked-up relationships and bleak outlook on life for two nights at the Congress Theatre. SOLD OUT!

May 7, 9, 10 & 12 - Going Vertigo with U2 & Kings of Leon
The United Center is the place to be as U2 takes the world by storm once again with their extensive Vertigo 2005 Tour. Eager to spread like wildfire on their home turf, Kings of Leon will more than likely make the most of their opening set by buying rounds for the entire audience. With six days in Chicago, you would think that the Kings would have just a few moments to spare for a quick interview at the campus down the street -- as it turns out, you'd be wrong. Let no good press get in the way of a bad hangover! SOLD OUT!

May 13 - On the Wings of a Mercury Rev
Opening for the Doves at the ever-disappointing Vic Theatre, Mercury Rev plans to give Chicago its first dose of brilliant grandiose prog-pop in three years. (I'm sorry to sound so unenthusiastic about this. For the record, I am excited that Merc Rev is here; I just think it's a shame that they got stuck as the opening set of a shitty band at a shitty venue.)

May 19-25 - Clio Festival Miami #5!
All that hard work is finally paying off, and it's time to go to Miami . . . to work some more! That's right, the 46th Annual Clio Festival in Miami will reveal the best that advertising has to offer in between all the drinking, dancing and general ogling of impossibly beautiful people. I'll be running the Registration table and making sure the squeaky wheels get the grease. Alas, it seems like this won't be a BFN outing this year, but I'll do my best to make the rest of the crew proud of all the deviant things I have planned once my plane hits the tarmac. If you can make it, the Virgin PiƱa Coladas are on me!

May 21 - BFN Networks 11:11!
During its 11th Season on UIC Radio, BFN Networks officially turns 11! Yes, that's right, Rebel Yellers -- BFN Networks made its public debut on this date in 1994 when it went live with a three-minute field report/bloodbath titled Attack of the Killer Shopping Carts. After the award-winning documentary Heston's Gate, CEO (and general Madman Across the Water) Johnathan Swift had the idea to expand the syndicate by throwing his loyal crew to the wolves. Much to his surprise, BobbyDobbyD, P-Dave & Master Wilkens were smart enough to join forces and take control of the Chicago office. Won't you jump on the SPAMWagon and bask in the glow of our debauchery?

May 24 - Bob's Golden Year
It's that time again to celebrate the Spawning Day of Bob Dubilina! 24 on the 24th -- LET THE RAMPAGE BEGIN! (As if that's not enough, because my b-day falls on a Tuesday, a badass batch of new music is released on the same day! Hippos, Birdies, Two Ewes, indeed!)
May 27 - Spotlight Artist Marathon: Porcupine Tree / The Great Crusades / Catsplash
Holy shit! Bring your ear plugs for this mad dash across the wide spectrum of BFN Spotlight Artists! Our marathon begins at 7:00 p.m. with Porcupine Tree throwing down their latest mind-blowing release Deadwing at Park West. From there we rush over to The Abbey Pub to buy a round or two (or six!) for The Great Crusades at 9:00 p.m. Seeing as they'll be playing two sets in the pub, it shouldn't be hard to keep everyone's good spirits alive and popping. After that, we'll stumble across the hallway into the main hall of The Abbey to witness Catsplash wrap up the night by blasting away the crowd with tunes from their official debut Catsplash. With this many shows, we're bound to snag at least one groupie! FUCK YEAH!
