April 2005 News
All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. Goddamn, I’m one horny motherbunny. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. Seriously, I’m climbing the goddamn walls here. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. However, there’s not much I can do about it because I’ve been busy working 80+ hours a week for the past month. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. If that’s not aggravating enough, I will spend the first half of April confined to a dimly-lit office in Santa Fe, New Mexico. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. Whoop-dee-la-da-fuckin’-doo. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. You know, what I really need right now is a long weekend to relax and unwind and rub The Ange down with six or seven bottles of aloe vera. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. No – skip that – I wants to see my pseudo-/current ex-girlfriend do it. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. Then I want to see The Ange return the favor. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. Yeah, baby, that’s right – just like that. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. FYI: Chad misses riding the Brown Line on a rainy day. What a romantic. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. Dave’s still hairy and destitute, but the music coming from his room sounds great! All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. Oh yeah, I almost forgot – Knuckle Sammich is almost done! All work and no play make Bob a dull boy. All work and no play make Bob something something . . .
April 2-16 – The Taming of the Muse, Santa Fe, NM
Yes, Super White Tuna Rangers (sorry, I ate sushi last night), it’s that time of year again – the official executive judging session of the 46th Annual Clio Awards has arrived. I, Deputy Dubilina, will be visiting the Land of Enchantment for two weeks to maintain law and order at the most frightening and sadistic judging process ever invented. There I will spend eighteen hour days chained to a computer in a poorly-ventilated room with no windows. I don’t plan on shaving this entire time. Or bathing. Or using utensils. In other words, I plan on being my usual self until I get one – ONE! – goddamn day away from work. (For the record, I absolutely feel no pity whatsoever for those poor souls confined to the back office with me.)
If you’re in the area, any attempts to emancipate me will be greatly appreciated. Although sunlight will be in short supply, I’ll have plenty of access to e-mail. Send all secret communiqués to Bob@BFNinYourEars.com. (Extra props to messages that require decoding.)

April 15 – Flickerstick It!
If you're in the mood for a heavy dose of bombast in your rock'n'roll, come to the Double Door to party with Flickerstick. They're on tour to promote their sophomore album Tarantula. C'mon, help put these guys on the map . . . again . . . without all the VH-1 hype . . . uh, yeah!

April 20 – Go Further to See Forever
Did you miss Spring Break? Are you now desperate for a thinly-veiled excuse to get drunk with a lot of naïve college undergrads? (Oh, please, like you ever possessed enough of a sense of shame to need an excuse . . .) Well, here’s your chance! Further Seems Forever will be headlining Beloit College’s Spring Day Celebration in – where else? – Beloit, Wisconsin. Come early, get smashed during the shitty opening sets (hot damn, are there a lot!) and do your best to cram a whole week’s worth of taggin’-and-baggin’ into one lovely April afternoon!

April 22 – Free Audioslave! Free Audioslave!
What? Oh, no – the show’s not free. In fact, I’m guessing that it sold out in record time. No, that headline was just a cute little play on words. Get it? Audioslave . . . slaves want freedom . . . free Audioslave . . . ? Still not ringing any bells, huh? Nothing at all? What do you know – an entire sea of blank faces staring back at me. Why am I not surprised?
Anyway, Chris Cornell & Co. have stopped campaigning against President Bush long enough to put together a sophomore release. They’ll be showcasing the fresh fruits of their labor at the Aragon. Good luck finding a ticket scalper with cheap seats.

April 24 – Rob Thomas Moonlights As Himself
Playing this month at the Vic Theatre to promote his debut solo effort ...something to be, Matchbox Twenty frontman Rob Thomas is eagerly looking forward to proving just how capable he is of making endearing, bittersweet pop-rock songs on his own. And just how will he pull this off, you ask? One word: Synthesizers. Lots and lots of synthesizers. Fuck yeah!

April 25 – Time to Come Out Swingin’
Finally, after nearly four months of compiling, coordinating, designing and manipulating, Knuckle Sammich: The Best Songs of 2004 (A BobbyDobbyD Soundtrack) is a wrap! Along with compiling this 2-disc set packed with the best music of 2004 and coercing one extremely talented (not to mention patient) graphic designer to add just the right touch (Jen DeRiemer, you so fine!), I also decided to provide extensive personal commentary regarding each song on the compilation. You can find all the sordid details on Bob’s Page. Go now! (Actually, go in late April, when the album is released.)

FYI: If you would like a copy of KS2004, write me at Bob@BFNinYourEars.com. This is a limited release, you know, so it’s best to hop on the SPAMWagon before I get paranoid about not having enough copies for myself and start hoarding them under my filthy, filthy mattress.
April 30 – Come Upstate and Say Hello
Now that their fifth studio release is currently in the mixing process, Guster decided to get out of the basement and test their final product on the college circuit. Alas, they won’t be pulling through Chicago this time around, but don’t despair: The Eagle’s Ballroom is just across state lines in Milwaukee, WI, so quit your belly-aching and put those magic thumbs of yours to work. Hell, I'll probably take you if you buy me a few cases of Sprecher’s Root Beer. How’s that for a deal?
