February 2005 News
As if it weren't bad enough that the BFN boys are all single for Valentine's Day 2005, it seems that we're also stuck in a hellish love funk. Chad's in a rage that the girl he's been a-courtin' is a player hater manipulator; Dave's getting service with a smile by the pound (and I don't mean from the animal shelter); and Bob . . . well, what can we really say about a guy who breaks up with his girlfriend two days before the big day of sweet nothings and love everlasting. (He even managed to buy her flowers just before crushing her spirit. Talk about a bastard with class!)
Seeing that our love lives are currently in a state of disrepair, it's more important than ever to get out of the house. Wallowing in misery never made anyone more charming or attractive, so it's best that we dive back into the social scene with a drink in hand and a witty rejoinder on the tip of our tongue. (We might as well have some condoms in our pockets while we're at it.)
February 14 - Pat McCurdy V-Day Special
It turns out that Valentine's Day falls on a Monday this year, so it looks like that magnificent jester of love Pat McCurdy will be playing to a packed house at The Beat Kitchen. Armed with an eclectic catalogue of love songs, he's bound to make you laugh so hard that you'll cry (or vice/versa . . . whatever you need most). It should also be noted that all of Pat's V-Day shows are sponsored by Trojan Condoms, so if you're looking to save money on rubbers, get 'em here!
[Editor's Note: If that's not cool enough, we will also be celebrating Ann's 21st B-Day at this show! (For those who are unaware, Ann is Bob's EX-mistress and Psycho Dave's ex-girlfriend -- talk about playing the field!) A Pat virgin who turns 21 on Valentine's Day -- oh boy, he's gonna love this!]

February 18-19 - Shivaree Shakedown
After being MIA for nearly five years (at least in the U.S.), Shivaree makes up for lost time by playing two back-to-back shows at Schubas in support of their new release Who's Got Trouble? Make sure to bring a date! With the breathy vocals of Ambrosia Parsley in your favor, it's pretty much guaranteed that sparks will fly.

February 20 - Fight for Your Right to P-Dave!
Psycho Dave returns to the Midwest after spending a month at home in New York attending a wedding, unloading his fiscal responsibilities, buying a new car and being seduced by a dumptruck. How sexy is that!

February 22 - Lucero's Fortune
Lucero's pulling through town to promote their forthcoming record. It's alt-country's finest at The Bottom Lounge. If you're hankering for some white trash booty in the form of a Brittany Murphy look-alike (or even a case of PBR), get it here.

February 24-28 - The "Make It or Break It" Road Burn Gamble
That's right, kids, the transmission has been replaced in my new car, so the time has come to go pick the sonofabitch up and see if this gamble will pay off. I have $1500 riding on this road trip (NOT including car payments, registration fees, insurance, gas or plane tickets), so let's hope that I didn't put all of my money on a lemon.
That said, I'll be in my hometown of Carson City, NV for thirty-six hours before hitting the south route to Chicago. If you would like to meet up with me for a lovely span of 3.5 minutes (I don't have much time to spare this trip), send me a note.

February 26 - We All Want What Ike's Got Goin' On
The Ike Reilly Assassination will be stopping by the Metro to help you keep a smile on your face while you drown your sorrows. Get here, get drunk, get down, get dirty and wake up in a strange room with Mr./Mrs. Right Now. (But don't work too hard for it! Remember, folks: Love will only find you when you're not looking for it . . . or after you've had twelve shots of whatever Ike's drinking.)

Mercury Rev / The Secret Migration
[Editor's Note: While the full version of TSM has been released everywhere else in the world, Mercury Rev made a deal with iTunes to pre-release the album in the U.S. as three separate EPs before the original LP hits stores in early May. While I admire the entrepreneurial spirit of the band, I still suggest paying the extra four bucks to order the CD from overseas.]

Much love (so spread it!),

P.S. Chad already has his Best of 2004 list posted in Random Chad. My list will be found at Bob's Page at the end of the month. At that time, I will also be sending out copies of Knuckle Sammich: The Best Songs of 2004 (A BobbyDobbyD Soundtrack) to our massive BFN following. Personal commentary on each song on the compilation will be provided on Bob's Page as well. If you would like a copy of KS2004, write me at Bob@BFNinYourEars.com, and I'll do my best to get you one. This is a limited release, so it's best to hop on the SPAMWagon before I'm too broke to even buy stamps.
As for Psycho Dave, who knows? Maybe if you beg him at Dave@BFNinYourEars.com, he'll post a special Best of 2004 and dedicate it to you! (Oh, how I love making promises for other people!)
P.P.S. You know what we need right now? A little advice from former BFN Ritalin Ranger Jason Smith. Ladies' Man, please provide us with your great wisdom on how to get those panties droppin'! SPEAK THE WORD!
