Without a doubt, Danko Jones is a pretty damn insightful guy. Seeing as he was just two days into the next leg of his grueling tour schedule, I was worried at first that he might not be game to chat it up for twenty minutes. But once I introduced him on air, the man was ready for anything. In fact, he casually set the pace of the interview. All we had to was chime in every now and then to give him direction. Things went so smoothly that forty minutes had passed before we called it a wrap.
My favorite part of the interview was when Danko told us that he pumped up for a show by imagining the eagerness and attention of his audience as an aggressive act. I found myself quite impressed by the idea of a rock concert being construed as a kind of musical battlefield. Hell, it seems so obvious now that I think about it . . . funny how these things come to mind, huh?

P.S. I'd also like to mention that Psycho Dave kicked ass with this interview. I don't know what it was, but he and Danko clicked the moment they shook hands. Without his help, I'm certain that Mr. Jones wouldn't have held the interest that he did throughout the interview.

...My favorite part of the interview was when Danko told us that he pumped up for a show by imagining the eagerness and attention of his audience as an aggressive act... ...Psycho Dave kicked ass with this interview. I don't know what it was, but he and Danko clicked the moment they shook hands... I'll say one thing about that interview: it was very Sun Tzu, baby. There were points in the break where he and I were just talking and it's almost as if he would not be following, but using the Art of War, I'd keep eye contact and command attention. THat example in particular was when I was talking about his live shows and what people miss on the album (not as much what we were calling banter as it is stage presence). Danko must be an unknowing disciple of Sun Tzu... and I'm glad I was able to offer a little bit of that background of having seen him live to force him open!

Psycho Dave, you are sooooooo full of shit. You know what? Because of that post, I'm taking back everything nice I've ever said about you. And, yes, I know that's only four things, but I'm taking them back nonetheless!

Psycho Dave, you are sooooooo full of shit. No seriously! ...I remember during the break, I was bringing this up to him and it's as if he wasn't even paying attention! ...well, jet-lag does that. But still! ...I commanded The Danko with the Art of War - a battle of wills!!! ...plus, seriously, what was I on? ...because I was jumping around the stuido and shit...

Thanks for posting that guys. Cool interview.
Dave, if you seriously question Danko's ability to speak up (something I don't really understand to be quite honest), go listen to his own radio show Magical World Of Rock or go see one of his Spoken Word shows if you ever get the chance. Trust me, the guy can talk. He also knows more about rock 'n roll than anyone I've ever heard about the subject.
That's it for me defending the best rock 'n roll band ever. Keep rockin' guys! ;D

In truth, and when you listen to the interview, you can tell that Danko was pretty damn out of it. ...well, that, and he said so!! Regardless of that, though, you could definitely tell that Danko is definitely a talker by way of his news podcasts and his own radio show! I wasn't worried, man.... hell, it's one of the reasons why I asked Bob to hook up the interview - because I could tell that Danko Jones has a lot to offer when he speaks. ...but for God's sake, get that man some bedrest! ...hardest working band in the world, it seems!
