Still standing after twelve rounds of sordid commentary? Excellent. Now that I'm done swinging, it's your turn to get in a few last jabs before the final bell. I'd love to hear what you think about KS2004 -- post your static feedback here! TKO, baby! BobbyDobbyD Bob@BFNinYourEars.com

Damn, I can't believe I'm the first one to leave some of your precious static feedback....(yah, that's my favorite Bob Dubilina ditty) For me, BFN has always been about the music and the over-the-line bits, but always the music. When they released the first best of volume, it was good. It was straight up BFN all the way, except it was missing one thing, MUSIC. And if there's one thing that's always perfect about BFN (except when they goofed one night and played something by DMB) it's the music. They are the ritalin rangers who introduced me to my all time favorite band, The Tea Party. So, continuing in the tradition of introducing me to great new music, I got my copy of Knuckle Sammich in the mail. I had one word for Bob... FRIKIN-AWESOME!!!! There were a few I knew, but more I didn't, and I can't get enough. I think if the CDs were vinyl they would have been worn through by the needle on my turntable. (Yes, I have one). I have been assailing my coworkers ears with this fabulous compilation of music. (And seriously considering sending the folks at y100rocks.com a copy) Keep 'em coming, you know how I like getting BFN in my ears!

... just cause i didn't sign up as a member, i can't edit the above post.... so....
something along the line of "i love you cause i have to"... you should perhaps listen to "everyday i love you less and less" by the kaiser chiefs.
somehow one seems to logically follow the other....

Just spent my morning listening to all three CD's. Thanks Bobby for such a generous gift! I enjoyed listening to both I and II last night on my reentry from Bolivia to the Fingerlakes. Today is day 2 and I had the time to relax and take it in. Listening, reading the commentary, dancing in the kitchen, cleaning the refrigerator, going on line for lyrics, dancing with my dog, looking out the window, sweeping the floor, and getting to know you. Guess I am just lucky! I'm ready for round two! xo Jean

Bob,
Just a quick note to say thank you so much for the CDs.
I had them in my car on the weekend and really enjoyed listening to some cool new music instead of the garbage on our local radio stations.
Also, have been listening to the BFN link you sent. Some very funny stuff.
Hope you are well.
Cheers, Alan Russell Creative Director DDB Canada, Vancouver

Okay, this is really late…and I want to make sure to note that the reason for that has nothing to do with my enjoyment of the cds. I just wanted to post a comment that was deserving of the Sammich, and finding time to do that in between building Bat Caves and hiring magicians is not easy. This is still not the ideal commentary…but hell, it was time to get something out there…
First, the music. Fantastic! The basic fact is that this is a great collection of music. In slightly more expanded detail I would say that these songs are a wonderful sampling of some of the best singers/songwriters that you don’t get to hear that often, if ever (at least, I don’t. Maybe some of you live in a place where the radio stations don’t consist of farm reports, gospel, high school football games, and, maybe, classic rock. You are the lucky ones). For someone who thinks that music is just as necessary as food and water (more, really…I have had far more anxiety attacks over dying batteries then missed meals) these cds are balm for the soul and entertainment for the mind. The songs evoke such a variety of feelings; and as perfect as they are together, I already have ideas for the parts they will play in future mixes.
And then there is the commentary. Good lord son, that’s a hell of a summation of the year. I don’t think Hallmark has a card for “boy, your life sure sucked, didn’t it?”. Shame. Anyway…the personal explanation of the songs meanings makes the compilation so, well, personal. We all have those songs that bring up emotions and memories (personally, 99% of the music I listen to I like because it makes me feel a certain way. Which doesn’t explain that whole “Rebel L” fascination but that is another story…), and to see a detailed explanation of what a song means to someone else is strangely intimate. Especially if what it seems to mean is all filed under “hurt”. I think I know too many people who only project emotions along the lines of “sarcastic” and “drunk” and so to have someone write out some of what really goes on in their heart is, I don’t know, I think moving is the word I’m looking for. Maybe. Or reaffirming. Everyone gets fucked over at some point or another. Some of us just get cool soundtracks to go with it. Thanks, Mr. Bobby D, for turning your heartache into our entertainment.
