I remember seeing some grumblings somewhere about the streaming audio of past shows, and I dunno if you are paying extra for it or whatnot. At any rate, my favorite radio station blew up in February and they opened a web station, mostly it's just a big playlist, but they often do live shows. (I've even won concert tix from them!) Here's the link to broadcasting info: www.live365.com/broadcast/ Sa P.S.-- If you care to give the above station a listen.... www.live365.com/stations/y100rocks

Hell, I even used to stream some shows and content from my server to double up a listing on shoutcast. I'll check out the links and see if anything's feasable ...thanks Saarene! ...Chad's been so busy that he hasn't even had a chance to post any of Season 11 (this one). It's almost all done, too. C'est La Vie, n'est pas?

the streaming station is great, they get to play alot more of the music that they really wanted to, instead of just the commercialized stuff that the bigwigs wanted them to spin constantly. so, there's great music and very few commercials (possibly none, but i'm not a v.i.p. member). the only downside is that all of these awesome people who have been running the station don't have jobs. i haven't met them, but what i've heard of them and what they've been doing (obviously completely on their own) is pretty amazing. they deserve better than to be f-ed over by stupid people in the radio industry.

It is courageous. unfortunately, radio was mostly meant for automobiles. Yeah, there are still the gyms and telephone hold music, but even they've switched to satellite radio. corporate is killing radio off and it doesn't even know it... and the FCC just made sure that it could happen, unequivocally.

yes... chopped liver.... with onions..... blech.... i know you guys aren't in it for the money so y'all don't count. you also have some taste in music. unlike the unwashed masses of the u.s. at large. i'm sure someone would say it's debatable, but what is out there as mainstream "music" (i'm using that term loosely) is, well, crap. crappity crap crap crap. between the simpson sisters and, *ahem*, "urban music", it's a wonder that the planet hasn't been blown up to make way for that intergallactic highway. (hee hee, knock on wood... )

in the line of green.... my husband, the beer guru, put google adds on his website, so now it's slowly working off the debt it ows us in all the hours he's put in. google seems to be a little picky on whom they will allow to have ads, but it's something you almost don't notice on his site (beerpal.com for all you folks who've never been...) man was that a shameless plug. well, if there's one thing that makes bfn funnier, it's alcohol. so, to complete that thought, at least ads might be able to pay for the website and a little more... and in the tangent of douglas adams, long dark tea time of the soul is pretty funny too.... *sigh* it's been a long day... speaking of not noticing things.... the google ads at the top of this page for example..... it's time for bed.... *ugh*

Free to join. 1000's of pictures & video's of Beautiful Jewish singles" ... must be something about me being Jewish... heh is his site updated often? and he puts that much work into it? you know, WWW.BEERPAL.COM (now that's a shameless plug)? ...I should check it out... actually... CHAD SHOULD... I'm not really a beer guy... more of a "liquor is quicker (and less filling)" guy. damn those ads... they don't give us money for anything... just these free forums.... *shakes fist*!!

do they have someone screening the "beautiful Jewish singles"? who's standard of beauty are they holding them to? is it just subjective and totally up to whatever perv needs to look through them all? (*ok, i'll play...*) yes, actually beerpal.com is updated often, there's a beer chat every wednesday evening, but you can chat anytime with your beerpals. it's free to join, and very soon we will have merchandise. "say no to swill.... over 10,000 alternatives at beerpal.com" perhaps you should look into selling bfn thongs.... (*cracks self up*) you could all model them...

I wish there were screenings - woof woof... Jewish women in Chicago are ugly. give Brian a personal congrats from me - he has an excellently designed site. I think he's got something good. ...and BFN thongs? ...i'd be the first one modelling... and proudly... amen...

now you're going to have to get them... think of the possibilities... i know you have bfn groupies... i think bri got his shirts from cafepress.com
i know they have lots of stuff so it's easy to personalize and they do everything for you (meaning you don't get much on the mark-up, but that's not what it's all about anyway)

I'm personally against putting up advertising on the main site, BFNinYourEars.com. I want to use as much space there for our stuff as possible—I'm mainly worried about clutter and noise. I mean, when was the last time that you clicked on a banner ad? On the flip side, my hosting costs $10/month, and recouping that expense might be nice. I've heard good things about Google Adwords—I would include them at the bottom of all of the BFN site pages. As for the streaming, it's done from my personal server using the free Shoutcast streaming server. Nullsoft (what's left of it, any ways) hasn't updated the server software in ages, but it still works dandy. I honestly don't feel like adding another $10/month in expenses for something that I already have working well for free. I killed the constant stream mainly because the listing service @ shoutcast.com was old and people were not longer using it. The software I was using to feed that stream sucked, too. On demand streaming, I think, is simpler because you get what you want, when you want it. As for me not getting the Season 11 shows up in a timely fashion, as fix is in the works. I'm looking as switching my personal server to a new, faster machine. At that point, I'll relocated the streamed files to somewhere agnostic where any one with an account can load files directly into the streamed files, making them automatically available. All they'll need to do is test it out and then post links in the forums. Whew! Longest post in weeks for me Pity that it had to come on a three-day weekend

actually it was yesterday, on this board, something about crappy jobs. was kind of funny, it was some commercial for verizon cell phone service or something.
sounds like you have everything well set up... just out of curiosity, how big is your audience? do you have limitations on when you can get into the studio? (not that you're there, chad....) would being attached to a group of stations (as with live365) give you a bigger audience? what's the average web traffic like? (not counting the three of you...)
ok.. :0D

Longest post in weeks for me Pity that it had to come on a three-day weekend well, no one was suggesting advertising on the main site. I also don't really care for Live Streaming of any sort - i just like the idea of having a listing for our site and a means for people to discover more about us. I mean, if a member on Live365 wants to search for "talk radio, comedy, weird news, boobies" (keywords separated by comas, in this case... heh), then they'll find us and get a link back to our main site... and while they are listening to the stream they'd have adverts. the streams would be any clips we have, sans full shows... or we could have two separate streams... one for random full shows and another for random clips (Best-Of, effects, clips) and In-Studio Performances. Shoutcast's listing was crap. well, if it comes down to getting that computer in a month and waiting that long... I think everyone would agree that sooner is better. It's taken this long already... I guess you could say that what's another month.... right? ...but... i dunno. It's your call, either way. you are in control of that.

We attract ~1000 visitors to the site per month, as of late. The forums have really helped in that respect—individual posts (which, as far as Google is concerned, is a page dedicated to a single topic) really help us show up in results pages.
As for Live365, I dunno. I'm not convinced. Granted, $120/year isn't a ton of money. But if I'm going to spend it, I want it to be worth it. Is it worth it? Will it truly grow the BFN audience? If so, then I'll put up the bucks. I just want to know if there's a community out there that's willing to embrace us. (Aside: We were listed on Shoutcast for 2+ years and honestly, I don't think that it helped.)
Here's your food-for-thought: The most listened-to bits that we stream are the Lucero interview and in-studio tracks. I won't tell you why that is—guess.
