This interview was recorded on a Sony mini-disc recorder. Because the only mike I have for on-site interviews is this tiny, badass unidirectional one that seems to pick up any noise in a fifteen-foot radius, the final product sounds fuzzy, even somewhat distorted. Well, that happens. Starbucks is known for coffee, not for its quiet atmosphere.

That said, the interview definitely outweighs the static in the background. It's up to you, though, to turn up the volume and pay attention to what Gavin has to say. And if I ever get another chance to sit down with Dredg, I'll make sure it comes out crystal clear. Promise.

Something Happened on the Way to the Interview...

Hey Zebraskinners,

There’s an entire back story to how close we came to being completely screwed out of this interview by Brent Reineke, Assistant to Promotions (aka "College Rep") at Interscope Records. If you’re interested in learning more about how a request for an in-studio interview made a month in advance was repeatedly brushed off by the monkey pushing the buttons, I encourage you to go here:

This Boiling Rage (The Full Dredg Interview Story)

Do enjoy! My misadventure = your entertainment.

Gavin mentions the theme of Catch Without Arms as being contrasts, yin yang, etc. This page gives an in-depth break down on the tracks and how the theme works in them:

Wow . . . so this is what it's like to be in somebody's good graces. Honestly, I thought there would be more sweating and moaning involved. Bummer. :)

If you want to read more feedback on this interview, GO HERE. The Dredg fans were more inclined to leave their comments on their home turf at Traversing.net. Oddly enough, my use of the word "chickage" created the most buzz. It feels good to know that my verbage is infecting the population.
